Eleven Park Hill School District elementary and middle schools earned Awards of Excellence from the Missouri Schoolwide Positive Behavior Support program for exemplary teaching and reinforcing behavioral expectations. Four Park Hill High School students earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognitions programs. Dozens of Park Hill School District band and orchestra students competed against students from schools throughout the Kansas City region to earn positions in the All-District orchestras and bands. The amount of virus an individual with COVID-19 sheds will differ over time as their illness progresses from the pre-symptomatic stage through to recovery. The amount of virus detected in a wastewater sample can also vary due to weather events, such as snowmelt or heavy rainfall. The Penn Hills School District is committed to excellence in education and improved opportunities for all, with the focus on student learning. Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 is a creative, proactive school system in the southwest Chicago suburbs, dedicated to ensuring that all students learn, achieve and grow to their maximum potential. Nathan Carrillo from Park Hill High School earned top honors in the QuestBridge National College Match program. Our teachers, administrators and support staff have gone above and beyond this year, and we want to thank them for everything they do. Two Park Hill South High School soccer players earned spots on the Missouri All-Academic Soccer team. The Association of School Business Officials International recognized our district for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award for 2022–2023.

As community transmission and risk levels increase, our personal protective measures should also increase. Our Park Hill School District support services and transportation centers earned an award for sustainability for the architects who designed them. The yearbook program at Lakeview Middle School in the Park Hill School District earned the 2021 National Yearbook Program of Excellence award at the bronze level from Jostens. Rouida Siddiqui, an incoming senior at Park Hill South High School, recently earned recognition as a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar.
Status of vaccination, testing, and cases in Public Health Sudbury & Districts’ service area
District 202 is the fifth largest public school system in Illinois by enrollment, behind Chicago, Elgin, Rockford and Indian Prairie (Aurora/Naperville), based on State Board of Education data. Justin Ford, journalism teacher at Park Hill High School and Park Hill South High School, is one of three teachers to win the Journalism Education Association’s Special Recognition Broadcast Adviser award this year. Director of Nutrition Services Ronda McCullick earned the School Lunch Champion award through the United States Department of Agriculture. The U.S. Presidential Scholars program selected five Park Hill School District seniors as candidates for one of the nation’s most prestigious recognitions. The 2022 Missouri Scholars Academy chose six students from across the Park Hill School District to attend its summer program at the University of Missouri.

Consider your age, vaccination status, health status, and know the risk of those around you. Public Health Sudbury & Districts strongly recommends multiple layers of protection based on your personal circumstances and according to the local risk as currently assessed. Vaccination opportunities: week of December 12, 2022
John Sedler, retired teacher, coach and athletic director from Park Hill and Park Hill South high schools, earned the 2022 Tom Colwell Lifetime Achievement Award from the DiRenna Awards program. Sid Suvarna, a recent graduate from Park Hill South High School, is a National Merit Scholar. Approximately 1.5 million students entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, and only 7,500 students earned National Merit Scholar awards. Park Hill and Park Hill South high school students on the newspaper, yearbook and broadcast staffs brought home awards from the Missouri Interscholastic Press Association and Missouri Journalism Education Association’s 2022 Journalism Day. Earning hundreds of awards each year, the Park Hill School District and our schools, staff and students are recognized leaders.
Researchers across Canada and globally are monitoring SARS-CoV-2 (the virus leading to COVID-19) in community wastewater samples to better understand community spread. People who have COVID-19 will have SARS-CoV-2 gene fragments in their stool, whether they are symptomatic or not. Levels of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in wastewater can therefore be measured to estimate levels of COVID-19 in the community and follow changes over time.
Maura Wade was named the Berger and Green Scholar Athlete of the Year by 22 the Point and received a $5,000 scholarship! The students participated in a t-shirt screen printing activity and selected a few books to take home which can be returned in their own classroom. This group training will help students understand how to advocate for themselves while encountering unexpected, everyday change which is necessary for finding and sustaining employment.
